Meadow Park Middle School
The bus has been retrofitted to move a mobile 3D printer lab from school to school. Why 3D printers you might ask? Well beyond the fact that 3D printers are pretty cool, the kids really get into the design process and add some CAD and CAM skills to their tool box! At Meadow Park students were working in groups through the design thinking process to create real objects.
The training process started with Tech Sherpas, Innovation Strategist g. Bundy, came in and trained students on the safety and maintenance of the 3D printers. Teachers were also trained, and then there was also a school visit where teachers from other schools could come and see how the 3D Printer Lab could work in their school.
In some of the design classes at Meadow students were designing for a teacher client, in other classes students were building derby cars through two iteration processes. Students were given criteria and constraints from the beginning, and students were asked to research force and motion before beginning the 3D derby car. Meadow Park is a MYP school, and a ton of resources have been made available (see folder access below).
If you would like to book the 3D printer mobile lab please contact your innovation strategist as soon as possible!
